Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount, 1966-1969), Treatment and Revised Final Draft from Episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". Vintage original group of (3) typed materials from Season 1, Episode 28, "The City on the Edge of Forever", including (1) 31-page hand-typed revised treatment by Harlan Ellison, unbound including several browned pulp pages, type-dated 21 March 66 with author's notations in red felt-tip, blue and black ink throughout, (1) 24-page (as paginated) revised treatment studio-copy, stapled and dated May 13, 1966, indicating implementation of Ellison's treatment as it was shared with the studio and producers, and (1) 60-page (as paginated) mimeograph revised final draft of the script, marked "Revised Final Draft: 8/12/66" indicating what Ellison hoped would be the final revised draft. However, after months of tension between Ellison and showrunner Gene Roddenberry, Ellison did produce one more revised version of the script in December 1966 before a round of changes made by Roddenberry in advance of filming in early 1967. Roddenberry's shooting script differed drastically from Ellison's, and would lead to years of bitterness between the two. One point of contention was Ellison's wish to use his pseudonym, Cordwainer Bird, rather than his real name. Roddenberry vehemently rejected this request and responded by threatening to have Ellison blacklisted by the Writers Guild of America. Notably, the March 21 typed treatment here includes the typewritten byline "Written by Cordwainer Bird". Items exhibit expected signs of age and wear with some corner chips and bumped edges and 1- missing final page to the final draft copy, with a later-produced copy of that page included.
