    MGM Vintage Scripts Collection. MGM was the "Tiffany" of Hollywood Studios and this lot of vintage scripts evokes some of its most legendary product. Included are a 79-page cutting continuity for the very first MGM production, He Who Gets Slapped, starring Lon Chaney, marked "Vault Copy", dated September 30, 1924, and recopied June 16, 1937 for a never-produced remake; the mimeo cutting continuity for another Chaney classic, The Road to Mandalay (1926), directed by Tod Browning and stamped "File Copy"; a 95-page typed carbon script, dated October 1, 1930, for Trader Horn, MGM's mega-hit of 1931, shot in Africa and marked "Vault Copy"; dialogue cutting continuity script for The Sin of Madelon Claudet, by Charles MacArthur (the film won a Best Actress Academy Award for Helen Hayes, MacArthur's wife), dated October 6, 1931, plus the "Instructions for Superimposing Titles" script, dated December 8, 1931 and stamped "File Copy"; the dialogue cutting continuity for Private Lives, based on Noel Coward's play and starring Norma Shearer and Robert Montgomery, dated November 27, 1931 and stamped "Vault Copy"; the 154-page script for Beau Brummel, produced in 1924 by Warner Bros. as a vehicle for John Barrymore, copied by the MGM script department on October 8, 1938 for a proposed remake (stamped "File Copy"); and a 122-page composite script for The Knights of the Round Table (which starred Robert Taylor and Ava Gardner), copied April 20, 1953 and stamped "Vault Copy". From the grand years when MGM's Leo the Lion roared -- "Ars Gratia Artis" -- and in Very Good to Excellent condition.
