Megalopolis (Zoetrope, 2024), Production Archive and Scripts. Large production archive from the lengthy production of Megalopolis, the passion project of Francis Ford Coppola that was in development for over two decades and finally released in 2024, including several iterations of the screenplay along with pages of handwritten cast lists, crew lists, look book materials, correspondence, call sheets, and a novelization of the screenplay, with some materials dating to the 1990s. Screenplay drafts include (1) 135-page (as paginated) pink revision script, bradded and dated November 7, 2022 and watermarked "Fred Roos / Executive Producer", (1) 121-page (as paginated) pre-production final draft dated July 10, 2022 and printed to 8.5" x 5.5", (1) 118-page (as paginated) master draft dated January 31, 2022, (1) 125-page (as paginated) draft dated May 17, 2021 with American Zoetrope cover printed to 8.5" x 5.5", (1) 124-page (as paginated) draft dated April 21, 2021, (1) 121-page (as paginated) draft dated April 16, 2021, (1) 128-page (as paginated) draft dated October 23, 2020, and (1) 129-page (as paginated) draft dated October 16, 2020. Several scripts bound in faux leather wraps. Also included is (1) 260-page (as paginated) bound novelization of the project written by Coppola and dated November 2, 2004. Coppola first had the idea for this ambitious project in the 1990s, and called on Fred Roos to help generate early cast lists, as seen here, including names like Reese Witherspoon and Christian Bale. Roos continued to work with Coppola for another two decades to bring the project to life. Items exhibit production age and wear, with corner bump to production documents and some scripts, and slight tears to few production documents. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
