Marilyn Monroe Solidifies Her Relationship With William Morris Months Before Her Monumental Contract with 20th Century Fox is Signed.

Marilyn Monroe Signed William Morris Agency Contract (March 2, 1950). Vintage original 6-page agency management contract (3-leaves, double-sided) on William Morris Agency letterhead dated March 2, 1950. This contract for a three-year agreement between Marilyn Monroe and the William Morris Agency builds on Monroe's previous 1949 contract with the powerhouse talent agency, assigning specific agents to her team and outlining the terms or their agreement. Among these agents, listed on pg. 5, is Johnny Hyde, her main representative during the 1950s and an instrumental figure in Monroe's rise during this period. The document is stamp-dated on the first and final pages and signed by Monroe in black ink on the final page alongside Ann Rosenthal, a top William Morris agent and attorney at the time. It was through her relationship with William Morris that Monroe landed early breakthrough roles in All About Eve, and The Asphalt Jungle. In December 1950, the agency negotiated a monumental seven year contract with 20th Century Fox that would catapult Monroe from supporting, to leading, to starring roles and would transform the young starlet into a global sensation. Document measures 8.5" x 11" and retains original hole punches at top edge. Exhibits signs of age and wear including paper toning, smudging from the typewritten portions, mild edgewear, foxing, and pin holes. Agent names have been covered with whiteout yet remain legible. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Allow 6-8 weeks for LOA delivery.?
