Description
Jacques Cousteau Proposal for Television Series with Signed Items. Jacques Cousteau's comprehensive proposal book for his series Conquest of Inner Space, which would eventually become The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau, 1966-76. Cousteau filled this leather-bound book with his thoughts on the direction of the proposed series, original photos of his diving team and the Calypso, script outline, research funding information, and hand-drawn illustrations and storyboards by J.C. Roux. Cousteau taught an entire generation how to, in his words, "Learn to think of the ocean as an important extension of man's own world," and to "love and protect that province of our environment." This quote, written and initialed in Cousteau's own hand on notepad paper, is included in the lot, along with a handwritten signed letter from Cousteau to Marshall Flaum (his producer from 1970-73), annotated narration script and series list, signed color 8" x 10" of Cousteau, and two additional glossy photos of Cousteau with his diving and film crews. The book measures 13.5" x 9.5" with inner pages measuring 12" x 9". In overall Very Fine condition with mild age-toning to pages. An incredibly unique treasure from the life of the world's beloved Captain Cousteau. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
