Group of (6) Marilyn Monroe Fan Letters. [Various], ca. 1960-1962. Vintage original group of (6) fan letters to Marilyn Monroe postmarked from countries all over the world including India, Vietnam, and Pakistan. With an ardent and devoted fan base unmatched in American pop culture, Monroe received thousands of fan letters throughout her career. As her secretary and assistant during these years, Hedda Rosten likely would have been responsible for sorting through, reading, and at times responding to Marilyn's fan letters. These letters, all from men, contain the standard requests for an autograph, photograph, or other souvenir. One letter, from a psychiatrist, offers reassurance that "nothing is wrong" with the actress. Also included is (1) letter from 1978 addressed to Norman Rosten and written in French. Several letters retain their original transmittal envelopes, and 1-piece of red ribbon, likely from one of these fan letters, is also included.
