Group of (4) Studio-Bound Screenplays for Jack Nicholson Films, Including Drive, He Said, Chinatown, Five Easy Pieces, and The Two Jakes (1969-1990). Original group of (4) studio-bound and bradded screenplays tied to Jack Nicholson's work as both actor and director, each with direct connections to producer Fred Roos, an early and influential champion of Nicholson's career, including (1) 106-page photocopy of Drive, He Said, dated December 11, 1969, bound in blue covers with a studio spine label, featuring handwritten cursive rewrites from pages 47 to 49, (1) 128-page photocopied script for Five Easy Pieces, dated August 5, 1969, bound in red covers with studio spine label, with Roos' handwritten notations on the first page, the screenwriter Carol Eastman's name noted, a Fred Roos address label affixed, and character names circled in red ink on page 77, (1) studio-bound photocopy of the third draft of Chinatown, dated October 9, 1973, with 142-pages (as paginated), blue wraparound covers, and handwritten title on the spine, and (1) production photocopy of the second draft of The Two Jakes by Robert Towne, featuring various revisions dated between February 27 and April 2, 1985, with additional pages marked "draft v.2.1." Roos played a key role in launching Nicholson's career, casting him in early features like Back Door to Hell and Flight to Fury, supporting his directorial debut Drive, He Said, and contributing to casting on landmark projects such as Chinatown. Scripts are bound in 9" x 11" studio-style covers and exhibit production wear, including bent corners, staining, yellowing, and general handling.
