Description
Fred Roos Early Career Production Archive (ca. 1960s-1970s). Original production archive from Fred Roos' early career in film after his initial stint in television, including cast lists handwritten on legal pad paper for Harold and Maude (Paramount, 1971), Chinatown (Paramount, 1974), Drive, He Said (Columbia, 1971), The Conversation (Paramount, 1974), Zabriskie Point (MGM, 1970), Dillinger (American International, 1973), Two-Lane Blacktop (Universal, 1971), and a pilot for Catch-22 (Paramount-TV, 1973) starring Richard Dreyfuss, among additional cast lists for various films. Accompanying the lot is an unproduced and undated 96-page (as paginated) script by Jack Nicholson and Monte Hellman titled To Hold a Mirror, bradded with black covers and retaining handwritten title on the spine in black felt-tip. The cast list for Drive, He Said is accompanied by additional production documents including shooting locations with handwritten annotations in red marker, (2) press release packets containing 12-production stills, (35) 3.5" x 5" kodak production stills with 9-original negatives measuring 4.5" x 1.5", and general correspondence. Several cast lists are also supplemented with additional production documents, primarily correspondence, including with big industry names such as Roger Corman and Burt Lancaster. Roos was steadfast in his research and following his intuition, leading to lifelong collaborations with the likes of Jack Nicholson and Francis Ford Coppola. Items exhibit production age and wear with slight tearing, corner bumps, and smudging throughout. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
