First Issue of Interview Magazine, 1969, from Wheeler Dixon's Collection. The first issues of Andy Warhol's Interview magazine were initially handed out to New York's "in crowd" to encourage their participation in the avant-garde publication's early years. This rare inaugural issue features interviews with George Cukor, Mark Freschette and Daria Halprin, Agnes Varda, and perhaps the most compelling review of 1969's Easy Rider ever written. This issue comes from the collection of film historian, author, and experimental filmmaker Wheeler Dixon, who wrote one of the articles in the magazine, and is one of several copies given to him by Warhol himself. The 8.5" x 11.5" folds out to a full size of 11.5" x 16.5". With expected age-toning, otherwise in Very Fine condition.
