Edgar Hurley, British stage star, was headliner of the Karno vaudeville troupe that brought Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel to the United States. This lot features 26 items, including a signed contract dated May 19, 1915 with Henderson's Music Hall of Coney Island, NY, and an undated contract with the Gus Sun Booking Exchange Co., as well as ten pictures of the team of Edgar Hurley and Ethel Wren (with duplicates of a number of the shots). Included is an illustrated interview with Hurley in the November 27, 1938 edition of the Buffalo Courier-Express, in which he recalls sailing from Liverpool October 9, 1912 with Chaplin and Laurel in his troupe. providing fascinating reminiscences about the historic tour. An unusual archive of great historic import. Good condition.
