Bruce Lee Handwritten Letter Signed "Bruce Lee" Written to Bob Baker Regarding His Planned Arrival for Martial Arts Pioneer James Yimm Lee's Surprise Party. Written by Lee to friend, confidante, and fellow Fist of Fury actor Robert "Bob" Baker, one-page (8.25" x 11"; 210 mm x 279 mm) on printed "Jeet Kune Do" personal letterhead stationery featuring gold and red yin and yang symbol and black Chinese characters indicating "Using no way as way" and "Having no limitation as limitation" representing Lee's personal hybrid philosophy on martial arts. Accompanied by original (9" x 4"; 229 mm x 102 mm) transmittal envelope, postmarked from Kowloon, Hong Kong, 9 Jan. 1968, written in Lee's hand, Mr. Bob Baker / 3608 Laguna / Oakland, Calif. USA. Expected folds with minor stains and handling.After Lee's breakthrough role as "Kato" in the TV series The Green Hornet (1966-1967) ended, he returned to a focus on the "Jeet Kune Do" martial arts form he'd created with emphasis on practicality, flexibility, speed and efficiency. He opened the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute. While Bruce gets little acting work, his demand as a martial arts master is established in the mainstream and he befriends fellow movie stars like Steve McQueen and also takes on some very famous students including James Coburn, Stirling Silliphant, Joe Hyams, and others.
Written from Kowloon, Hong Kong, Lee reminds Bob Baker about James Yimm Lee's surprise party. "James doesn't know of my coming on Jan. 26, Friday nite. Ted and I will just show up in restaurant."
