Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938), Revised Draft Screenplay. Vintage original 242-page (as paginated) revision draft for Howard Hawks' seminal screwball comedy, Bringing Up Baby, on typed carbon tissue vellum pink revision papers, bradded with yellow textured studio wraps and dated July 22, 1937. The cover wrap contains a 2.5" diameter production company stamp marked "Hawks-Volck Corporation" with smaller 1" stamps on each interior page. The film, with script by Hagar Wilde and Dudley Nichols, went into production two months following this draft, in September 1937, with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in the lead roles. Despite being a box office bomb that relegated Hepburn to the label of "box office poison," the film is now regarded as one of the greatest American films of all time and one of the greatest of the screwball genre. Exhibits signs of handling and wear from age, including ink smudges, edgewear, occasional stains, and bumped corners, with central components well preserved. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
