This lot includes Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett's sequenced screenplay for the 1937 Paramount classic Bluebeard's Eighth Wife (on carbon paper) stamped "Ernst Lubitsch" on the front cover, 9" x 14", sequences A through E, all dated March 12, 1937, except sequence E (dated March 13), paper covers with three interior metal clips; Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond's Oscar-nominated original screenplay for United Artists' The Fortune Cookie, 8.5" x 11", 174 pages, green paper covers with two metal clips; The Fortune Cookie correspondence file including budget information; 1966 Screen Writers' Annual Award "Nomination for Writing Achievement" for The Fortune Cookie; and 1966 Southern California Motion Picture Council Inc. "Comedy Award" for The Fortune Cookie. With the classic comedy The Fortune Cookie, Billy Wilder brought together the powerhouse team of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau for the first time. Bluebeard and the correspondence file are Very Good to Fine condition. Fortune Cookie script and awards are Very Good with some evidence of being in a studio office fire.
