This extensive lot from Billy Wilder's 1951 Paramount drama starring Kirk Douglas as an unscrupulous reporter includes: sheet music for song "Ace in the Hole" by James Dempsey and George Mitchell; Production and Correspondence File: including typed signed (Jean Negulesco, Rene Clair [in French], Irving Shulman) and autograph letters to Wilder; legal documents pertaining to a lawsuit against Wilder regarding the content of Ace in the Hole; copies of Wilder letters related to the films Ace in the Hole/The Big Carnival and Stalag 17; casting, credits, budget, music, and preview comment sheets; press releases and reviews from newspapers, magazines and trade publications (Hollywood Reporter, Film Daily, Daily Variety, Editor and Publisher, Tele-Cine, Cine Revue France, Life); Finnish poster, 16" x 23", titled The Big Carnival, with images of Kirk Douglas and Jan Sterling; "Ace in the Hole" essay by Billy Wilder, three pages; and two b&w 8" x 10" still photos, including Kirk Douglas portrait.
