Description

Assorted Superhero/Science Fiction Scripts, including Unproduced Projects (1974-96). Superhero movies are essentially an established genre these days; however, prior to the late '90s, the adventures of most costumed crusaders were considered too expensive and lacking in mass appeal to be worth filming. This fantastic set of 16 superhero and sci-fi movie scripts includes unproduced drafts of Spider-Man (ninth revised draft, 1988), Superman: The New Movie (synopsis and script draft, 1992), The Flash (first draft, 1987), The Adventures of Dick Tracy (1974), Captain Avenger (first draft 1978), and Masters of the Universe 2 (second draft, 1988, ultimately remade and released as Cyborg in 1989), as well as drafts of Captain America (1990), The Crow, Death of the Incredible Hulk, Die Darkman Die, Knight Rider 2000, Masters of the Universe, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Mortal Combat: Annihilation, and Superman IV. Most intriguing are the first two: The Superman script was written by Superboy TV series writers Cary Bates and Mark Jones, based on a story by Alexander Salkind, and was to have starred Christopher Reeve. The Spider-Man script represents an early attempt at getting a movie franchise going (it pre-dates James Cameron's well-known 1990 scriptment). A great set, in Very Fine to Excellent condition.
