An Orson Welles Theatre-Related Scrapbook, 1938. Compiled specifically for Welles himself by a professional clipping service, an oversized grayish-colored cloth-covered volume, approximately 140 pages, filled with hundreds of newspaper clippings all related to various plays put on by Welles' Mercury Theatre during its second year including "The Cradle Will Rock," the fascist-themed "Julius Caesar" and "Heartbreak House" (which put Welles on the cover of 'Time' magazine, a copy of which is included here) among a few others, a couple of Mercury Theatre press releases are also within these pages, articles are mostly from New York publications and are all glued to the scrapbook pages -- overall, a rare and comprehensive collection of fantastic information about Welles' early and important days in the theatre; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions. (Please note all the pages of the scrapbook are extremely brittle due to age, the clippings are yellowed, and the front and back covers are tattered, but the articles are still intact and legible.)
    18" x 13" x 3"

According to Beatrice Welles, her father was directing and acting in all these plays white still acting in his various daily radio shows, sometimes up to six a day -- he never stopped working! Additionally, his 1937 "Julius Caesar" (an "expressionistic Broadway spectacle designed as a pre-war condemnation of European fascism") is still widely considered the single most important production of Shakespeare ever staged in the United States.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
