An Orson Welles Pair of Signed Documents Relating to "The Steve Allen Show." NBC Television, 1956-1960. The first a 'Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract-Television,' dated "March 25, 1958," outlining an agreement the actor had to appear on the show, signed in blue fountain pen ink in the lower left corner "Orson Welles" and initialed numerous times by him throughout; the second a typed note from the William Morris Agency, dated "April 3, 1958," noting Welles was to pay his agent "10%," signed in blue fountain pen ink in the lower right corner "Orson Welles;" also included are two other typed documents and two paycheck stubs relating to the same show, a document and a paycheck stub relating to Welles' appearance on "What's My Line" [CBS Television, 1950-1967], and a paycheck stub from Desilu Productions, Inc. dated "5-19-56;" included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions. (Please note both signed documents are somewhat wrinkled, one has a small 1 1/2" tear in the upper left corner, and one signature has smeared ink - likely from the day Welles signed it.)
