An Orson Welles Check Book Register, 1957-1958. A spiral-bound book of approximately 200 blank checks from Welles' account at Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles, the Melrose & Highland Branch, each check has his name printed on both the upper and lower margins, additionally, a number of stubs dating from "11-23-57" to "3-4-58" [the time he was making his now-classic noir, "A Touch of Evil"] are still affixed with each having a secretary's black fountain pen ink handwritten notes showing that Welles wrote out checks to "Rothchilds, Western Costume, Pioneer Hardware, Vendome, Desilu, Canyon Cleaners, Jurgensen's, AFTRA, Romanoff's, Calif. Book Binders, Chasen's, American Airlines" and "Mrs. Paola Mori" among a few others; overall, a fun look into the actor's life in the late 1950s; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions.
