A small black three-ring binder, embossed on the cover "Property of / Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corp. / Casting Office," inside are A to Z tabs with countless pages of typed notes about actor salaries and their situations; typical examples read as follows: "Kelly, Gene - 3500 for 1 yr; Lassie 1600 wk when working / Trainer 150 wk; Taylor, Elizabeth - 750 for 3 yrs...mother 250; Turner, Lana - 4000 for 7 yrs; Gardner, Ava - 1500 for 1 yr; Garland, Judy - 5769.23 for 5 yrs. ending 1/1/52 - no layoff...Mother receives 150.00; Gable, Clark - 7500 for 8 years;" many other A-list MGM stars' salaries are outlined in this ledger including (in alphabetical order): June Allyson, Pier Angeli, Mary Astor, Ethel Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Wallace Beery, Louis Calhern, Leslie Caron, Cyd Charisse, Arlene Dahl, Vic Damone, Nancy Davis, Jimmy Durante, Greer Garson, Stewart Granger, Kathryn Grayson, Jean Hagen, Van Heflin, Kathaine Hepburn, John Hodiak, Lena Horne, Van Johnson, Howard Keel, Deborah Kerr, Fernando Lamas, Angela Landsbury, Peter Lawford, Janet Leigh, Marjorie Main, Patricia Medina, Ralph Meeker, Ann Miller, Ricardo Montalban, Rita Moreno, Frank Morgan, Margaret O'Brien, Walter Pidgeon, Jane Powell, William Powell, Donna Reed, Debbie Reynolds, Mickey Rooney, Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton, Ann Sothern, Dean Stockwell, Robert Taylor, Mel Torme, Spencer Tracy, Robert Walker, Esther Williams, and Gig Young, among a few others.
