A Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz-Related Group of Documents, 1950s. Five items including: 1) a Western Union telegram, dated "1952 May 21," to Jim Murray of Time Magazine from the couple, reading in part "Thank you for a great story," with its original transmittal envelope; 2) a Western Union telegram, dated "1952 Dec 24," also to Murray from the couple, reading in part "Thank you for everything you have done for us;" 3) a check from Arnaz's account at California Bank on Vine Street, dated "Aug 24, 1953," paid to "Dolores Arnaz" [his mother] for "$1,615," signed by the star in blue ballpoint ink "Desi Arnaz," noted on front of check is "repayment of loan in full;" 4) an American Guild of Variety Artists "Member's Receipt," showing that "Lucille Ball" paid her dues of "$50.00" on "4/24/56;" and 5) a similar receipt showing that "Desi Arnaz" paid his dues of "$25.00" on "1/25/56" -- maybe Lucy owed more because she was the bigger star?
