A Joey Bishop Group of Received Telegrams, 1940s, 1960s. Approximately 85, mainly dating from the 1940s or just the year 1964, sent to the comedian to congratulate him for various engagements, awards, gigs, honors, and the like from friends such as Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Jack Bfny [sic] (likely Benny), Joe E. Lewis, Garry Marshall, Joe Cotten, and Jacob Javits; the remainder are ones from unknown or now-obscure show biz buddies with great old nicknames like Chick, Tweet, Cokey, Chubby, Fatty, Bitsy, Buddy, Frankie, Marty, Mickey, Jimmie, Johnny, and Sully, among many others; content of many is quite funny as would be expected; also included is a 1954 receipt of a telegram that Bishop sent to Ed Sullivan thanking him for his "gracious mention" of Bishop's name "on your program last night" as well as many of the original transmittal envelopes the telegrams came in; overall, a great insight into what Bishop was doing professionally for a number of years and who he knew.
