    Description

A Jennifer Tilly Whimsical New York City-Themed 'Show Girl' Costume from the Woody Allen Film "Bullets Over Broadway." Miramax, 1994. Made of gold silk, black velvet, and other materials, sleeveless, ruffled skirt portion, appliqués on front and back depict skyscrapers and martini glasses spelling out the five boroughs [Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens], decorative sequins and beading throughout, interior support garment, handwritten notation in black felt-tip ink on lining reads "Tilly;" together with a matching hat primarily made of beads with a crescent moon form dangling from the center; worn by the actress as she portrayed "Olive Neal" at the beginning of the film where she complains to her boyfriend [Joe Viterelli] about still being one of the chorus girls; interestingly, Tilly was nominated for a 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' Oscar for her work in this Woody Allen film but she lost out to her co-star, Dianne Wiest, which was probably bittersweet for the two.
