The first typed on personalized notepaper, dated "August 6, 1973," reading in part "Dear George: / I wouldn't turn you down personally on anything.../that would benefit the Motion Picture Home.../Your everlovin," signed in black felt-tip ink in the lower right corner "Duke," included with its original transmittal envelope (with the stamp torn off); the second typed on same notepaper, dated "December 14, 1973," reading in part "Dear George: / I would be most happy to do a guest shot for you...Sincerely," signed in black felt-tip ink in the lower right corner "John Wayne;" included with its original transmittal envelope -- the Duke evidently being a good buddy to the director based on the content of these two letters.
