A Boris Karloff Set of Interesting Documents, 1940s. The first on RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. letterhead, a mimeographed copy of the typed original, dated "July 22, 1944," reading in part "Dear Mr. Karloff: / Due to your incapacity you have not performed / services...for 'Isle of the Dead'... / therefore.../ your services and compensation are / suspended," signed by Karloff's secretary in the lower left corner; eventually, Karloff did complete the film which was released in 1945; the second on the same letterhead, a mimeographed copy of the typed original, dated "March 20, 1947," reading in part "Dear Mr. Karloff: / Please be advised that we will / require you to report to our studio at 780 Gower / Street on April 5, 1947 to commence the rendition / of your services...," also signed by the actor's secretary in the lower left corner; both have two-hole punch marks on the top margin; evidently, poor RKO was having issues with the actor throughout the mid-1940s.
