A Bette Davis 'Standard Daily Journal 1965.' A large datebook for the desk, red leather binding, covering the calendar year for 1965, filled with numerous annotations in countless shades and types of ink (and pencil) in the star's own hand, covering various events and topics such as: television appearances on The Tonight Show, the Today Show, etc., extensive travel, her children "B.D." [Barbara Davis Sherry] and "Mike" [Michael Merrill], dinner dates with people such as Roddy McDowall, Mia Farrow, Evelyn Keyes, and Joe Franklin, shopping excursions to I. Magnin and Henri Bendel, numerous gifts bought for family and friends, countless recipes, hair color formulas, doctor appointments, outfits to buy and/or wear, notes about a "Baby Jane" doll, plus a few scribblings about rushes, wardrobe, press, and radio all likely related to "The Nanny" [the 20th Century Fox thriller the star was making that year], among many other subjects; some annotations are penned in other hands (such as Davis' secretary, her daughter, or other-type assistants), but the majority are in the star's own hand, creating a vivid image of "a year in the life" of a famous actress and a very busy woman -- one gets the impression from reading this journal that Davis never had a day of rest; included with a signed 'letter of provenance' from Kathryn Sermak, Davis' longtime personal assistant.10" x 8" x 1"
