    Dan Sayre Groesbeck original vintage Gone With the Wind Olivia de Havilland "Melanie" and Leslie Howard "Ashley" watercolor. (MGM, 1939) The opening of David O. Selznick's blockbuster was nearly as epic as the grand love story in Gone With the Wind. This is a special original watercolor from the world premiere of Gone With the Wind at Loew's Grand Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. Accomplished in pencil, charcoal and watercolor on 21.75 x 27.5 in. artist board (visible through 29 x 36 in. mat). Dramatically depicting Olivia De Havilland as "Melanie" and Leslie Howard as "Ashley" in a baggage room crowded with Southern ladies among returning wounded Confederate soldiers. Signed by artist in upper left corner of image, "Dan Sayre Groesbeck". This was one of a small series of commissioned paintings for the Atlanta world premiere of the epic American romance. In its original vintage wooden gold gilt carved frame with ornate notched bead around border. Exhibiting light toning to mat and minor rubbing to frame corners.
