Cyd Charisse "Dancer" Broadway Rhythm Ballet Costume From Singin' in the Rain (MGM, 1952). Vintage original crème silk ballet leotard with chiffon overlay, a spray of silver sequins, tank straps, silk chiffon under layer, interior padding at bust, lined crotch, satin ribbon ties for attaching to the straps of the actor's leotard and zipper back with hook and eye closure.

Accompanied by an approx. 40 foot length of flowing chiffon train. In the dreamlike Broadway Rhythm Ballet, Charisse makes a stunning entrance trailing this endless chiffon train, streaming, choreographed by a mischievous, caressing breeze. Charisse directs the flowing streamer as Gene Kelly interacts elegantly with it, as if it's a lithe and romantic character unto itself.

An unforgettable costume from one of Gene Kelly's most epic pieces of choreography in a most beloved and iconic American movie musical. Exhibiting production wear, age, and expected deterioration, to fragile vintage fabrics. Otherwise, in Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Gene London Cinema Collection.
