Vintage Valentino and Mainbocher Suits Owned by Edie Adams, circa 1960. Edie Adams was well known to fashion designers on both sides of the Atlantic, and here we present vintage 1960's classics by two design legends, the American designer Mainbocher and the Italian designer Valentino. The Mainbocher suit shimmers, the elegant simplicity of the design carried out in the placement of three shades of raw silk in cream, tan and gold. The A-line dress zipping at the left side has a cream bodice, gold skirt and tan belt, mimicked wonderfully in the tan coat, lined at the bodice in cream and below in gold. One can imagine a wonderful swish of the coat, as Edie strutted across the floor revealing the melding of color between dress and coat. The black and cream diamond Valentino is a must have, the precision of the design of the fully lined belted jacket and straight skirt melding perfectly with the choice of fabric, with black buttons and hidden belt exposed at the front seam that snaps closed and is long enough that it falls to the skirt. These two spectacular suits are in Very Fine condition and would make a wonderful addition to your collection. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
