Two Gowns by Galanos and Norman Norell, Owned by Edie Adams. Two floor-length gowns, the first piece, an emerald green textured knit by Galanos for Amelia Gray, is beautifully finished. An A-line design with squared neck front and back, the strap overlay top stitched accentuating the design. Side zipper opens to show the bust lined in green charmeuse and the skirt in netting, meticulous attention to detail with bound side seams. The second piece, by Norman Norell for I. Magnin, is in black crepe. The simple bodice with high neck line scoops low in back, with the straight skirt flaring at the knee with triangular top stitched insets every 1.75". Finished at the waist with a tied belt. The center back zipper reveals the lining with ribbon belt at waist and "FRONT" label suggesting that Edie wore this on stage. In Very Fine condition and ready for an evening out. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
