Description

The Ten Commandments (Paramount, 1956), Anne Baxter "Nefretiri" Turquoise Gown. Vintage original pleated chiffon turquoise gown with a cape attached at the shoulders with snaps, v-neckline trimmed in woven gold metallic ribbon and gold-toned metal tulip trim, and a long string of the tulip trim and ribbon that hangs down the front of the bodice. The dress closes with hook-and-eyes down the back and there are 2-strips of fabric internally that hold metal plates to weigh down the gown and make it lay correctly. The cape is trimmed with a string of tiny gold-toned metal flowers. Worn by Nefretiri (Anne Baxter) when Rameses (Yul Brynner) promises that she will be his wife, but she claims that she could never love him. Designed by legendary Hollywood costume designer, Edith Head. Dress exhibits production wear and age including some tearing and fraying along the hem, discoloration, and a tear on the left breast. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
