The Munsters (CBS TV, 1964-1966), Fred Gwynne "Herman Munster" Signature Costume Ensemble. One of the most loveable, kind-hearted, and clumsy monsters of television history, Herman Munster (Fred Gwynne) put a new face on Frankenstein's monster, exchanging terror for charm as the buffoonish, childlike patriarch on the beloved sitcom, The Munsters. Offered here is a vintage original (3) piece signature Herman costume, including (1) purple-gray wool jacket with notched lapels, exaggerated padded shoulders, shortened sleeves, 2- flap hip pockets and 1- breast pocket, retaining internal Western Costume Co. label typed, "Fred Gwynne" "2838-1", (1) pair of matching wool pants with false-fly front, and hook-and-eye and zipper right-side closure, retaining internal Western Costume Co. label typed, "Fred Gwynne" "2838-1", and (1) pair of signature black suede custom 6" platform boots retaining internal label, "Custom Made by Willies of Hollywood". All items exhibit expected age and heavy production use including color fading and makeup stains to the jacket and pants, discoloration to the jacket collar, studio repairs to both knees and upper back of jacket, and boots with scuffing and scratches. Also included is a black crewneck knit sweater for display purposes. Provenance: Profiles in History, "Icons & Legends of Hollywood - Part III", November 12-13, 2020, Lot #1080. Stewart took great pride in displaying his collection and had many custom-built mannequins in the likeness of the character made for his costumes. This lot includes one of those mannequins, which is in used and well-loved condition and will require special shipping. The option is yours if you would like to receive the mannequin.
