Description

The Matrix Reloaded/The Matrix Revolutions - Neo Costume Black Overcoat. Written and directed by the Wachowski Brothers and released in April 1999, The Matrix was a game-changer for action movies in general and for the science fiction genre in particular. Its complex mythology and even more complex visuals raised the bar for similar films and spawned a number of imitators. The success of the movie paved the way for an ambitious pair of sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, filmed back-to-back and released six months apart in 2003.
This full-length black overcoat was one of several made for the character Neo, played by series star Keanu Reeves throughout the two sequels as the computer hacker who discovers that the "real" world is an elaborate virtual reality controlled by machines who have enslaved humanity. Prophesied to be the chosen one who would finally free the human race, Neo finds himself able to perform almost limitless superhuman feats in the artificial world of the Matrix, and eventually in the real world itself.
The role put Reeves front and center for the entirety of the big-budget, high-profile series, and required him to perform grueling stunt work involving martial arts and gunplay enhanced with wirework and a complex visual effects technique dubbed "bullet time."
The coat is made from an unspecified fabric with a textured weave, with a mandarin collar and some padding in the chest. The coat has a total of 26 buttons down the front from throat to hem, and when fully buttoned it gave Neo/Reeves a somewhat monk-like appearance. The coat was tailored with openings under the armpits. In overall Excellent condition. Accompanied by a COA from The Hollywood Studio Collection. Photo-match for reference purposes only. For authenticity guaranty see Terms and Conditions.
