Description
The Honeymooners - The Jackie Gleason Show (CBS TV, 1966-1970), Art Carney "Ed Norton" Signature Vest. Vintage original 6- button V-neck vest constructed of a brown faint glen check poly-wool blend with 4- chest pockets and sateen inner and back lining, the signature costume ensemble piece worn by Ed Norton (Art Carney) during Honeymooners sketches. With his best friend Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason) as the hardworking bus driver, it was only fitting for Norton to occupy another gritty, unforgiving New York City workingman's job: municipal sewer worker. In contrast to Kramden, however, Norton was the more affable, good-natured, and carefree of the duo. The two are often caught whipping up schemes and escapades, mainly driven by Kramden, and were inseparable throughout the many iterations of Honeymooners routines, from its original iteration in the Cavalcade of Stars (1949-1952), through the "Classic 39" episodes of The Honeymooners (1955-1956), and in both iterations of The Jackie Gleason Show (1952-1959; 1966-1970) and several later special broadcasts. This vest is accompanied by an LOA from Art Carney, on his personal letterhead, reading "One of the vests used by Art Carney as "Norton" the sewer worker", as well as a signed black-and-white publicity photo reading, "Best Wishes / from Art Carney". Vest is accompanied by a white T-shirt, gray slacks, black belt, black shoes, and a felt hat to complete the look for display purposes. Additionally, Stewart took great pride in displaying his collection and had many custom-built mannequins in the likeness of the character made for his costumes. This lot includes one of those mannequins, which is in used and well-loved condition and will require special shipping. The option is yours if you would like to receive the mannequin. Comes with a full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services and PSA/DNA.
