Description

The Dolph Lundgren Costume from "Rocky IV." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1985. A red satin jacket, yellow stripes down either sleeve, hammer and sickle emblem on back; together with a pair of matching boxing shorts and red leather boxing shoes; worn by the actor as "Ivan Drago" in his iconic fight against "Rocky Balboa."

"Dolph Lundgren was chosen out of nearly 4,000 men who auditioned for the part of Ivan Drago. He was incredibly large, powerful, and intelligent, and because he was a world champion, he already knew how to move as a great fighter. I wanted to design a uniform, a boxing outfit, for him that was unlike any that ever been seen before. We worked on emphasizing his shoulders and his menacing appearance while also paying respect to the Soviet Union, flagrantly showing his allegiance to that country and how proud he was. The boots themselves are also amazing with the wings on the back. Lundgren was perfectly cast in this role and his outfit just emphasized how good he was in the part."
