    Description
Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount TV, 1966-1969), William Shatner "Captain Kirk" Alternate Universe Ensemble from Episode "Mirror, Mirror". Vintage original (3) piece alternate universe Starfleet uniform ensemble including (1) metallic gold lurex vest with metallic gold piping to deep V-neck and down bias front closure, double-sided metallic golden fringe epaulets at shoulders, 1-embroidered patch applique on right chest, and 4- gold-toned pin embellishments on left chest, (1) metallic gold bullion threaded woven sash, retaining orange Velcro strips along the lower hemline for attaching hand props, and (1) pair of Dacron black with silver sparkle fabric Starfleet pants, featuring shortened bellbottoms and open slit, pleated cuffs, 2- front waist pockets, and zipper and hook-and-eye front closure. The bottom of the pants have been modified for use in Star Trek: Phase II, the abandoned follow-up to the original series, which was developed extensively including wardrobe tests but never produced. To that effect, pants retain internal bias label with handwritten and crossed out "Shatner", indicating the pants originally worn by Capt. Kirk (Shatner) would have been re-purposed for the new series, potentially by a different actor. Lurex vest appears in Season 2, Episode 4, "Mirror, Mirror" worn by Capt. Kirk on the starship Enterprise in the Mirror World, in which Starfleet has been replaced with an evil empire. Exhibiting production wear and age though presenting extremely well. Provenance: Profiles in History, "Hollywood: A Collector's Ransom 2", June 1-2, 1996, Lot #760; Heritage Auctions, "Star Trek Hollywood and Entertainment", February 22, 2022, Lot #89022.
