Description

Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount TV, 1966-1969), Leonard Nimoy "Spock" Signature Starfleet Tunic with Starfleet Pants. Vintage original blue velour officer's long-sleeved tunic, instantly recognizable as worn by the singular Spock (Leonard Nimoy) in the original Star Trek series. Tunic features original iconic "Science Officer" gold lamé and black-thread embroidered insignia on left breast and side zipper closure that runs down the seam of the left front shoulder to near waist. With black ribbed, short-standing ring collar and retaining handwritten "L.N." to interior below collar and handwritten "No 7" to interior zipper in white ink. Also present is a pair of vintage original black and sparkle-flecked ankle-length Starfleet crew pants with paneled, pleated split cuffs and zipper front closure, retaining production handwriting on interior waistband reading, "#P3, 28 Size". These pants were production-made for the series, though were not known to have been worn by Nimoy. Spock remains the overwhelming favorite and most desirable Star Trek character for collectors, having gained an unparalleled mythical quality in the years since the show's premiere. This tunic is the signature uniform identified with the part human, part Vulcan first officer throughout the series, and has been in the collections of two prominent collectors of Hollywood memorabilia, John Azarian and Dr. Stewart Berkowitz. Exhibiting expected age and production wear including signs of previous repair along the tunic right side seamline and shoulder seam. Waist hemline and both cuffs have come unsewn and will need to be restitched, and were tucked up for photography. Prior repair to split seam at seat of pants also present. Accompanied by a pair of contemporary black boots for display purposes. Provenance: Tunic and pants from Heritage Auctions, Auction #7245, "The Azarian Collection Pt. 2", November 7, 2021, Lots #89853 and #89858. Stewart took great pride in displaying his collection and had many custom-built mannequins in the likeness of the character made for his costumes. This lot includes one of those mannequins, which is in used and well-loved condition and will require special shipping. The option is yours if you would like to receive the mannequin. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
