Star Trek: The Next Generation Screen Used "Scant" Male Costume (1987). A rare gold "Scant" type male uniform as used in season one of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Designed by legendary Star Trek costume designer Bill Theiss, this style was both mocked and lauded for its forward thinking design for men. Made of a stretchy Lycra-type material, has "39 / 401" written in black felt pen on a blank label, and a velcro-attached plastic Starfleet insignia badge on the left breast.
