Sandor "The Hound" Clegane (Rory McCann) Signature Helmet from Game of Thrones (HBO® Original 2011-2019, Season 1). Original character helmet featuring (1) gray black molded fiberglass helmet with intricate hound-shape design, prominent snout and teeth, articulated lower jaw, segmented gorget and back layers held together with leather straps. One of the most recognizable costume pieces in the series, this impressive helmet first appears in Season 1, Episode 1, "Winter is Coming," when Sandor "The Hound" Clegane arrives at Winterfell as part of Robert Baratheon's (Mark Addy) royal escort. Rory McCann remarked, "Wearing the Hound's helmet immediately put me in character. It's heavy and intimidating, just like the Hound himself." Costume designer Michele Clapton drew inspiration for the Hound's helmet from knights during the Italian Renaissance who "often wore helmets shaped like animal heads." Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated, "The Hound's helmet is iconic. It perfectly encapsulates his brutal and fearsome nature." Exhibits production wear.
