Rudolph Valentino's Costume Coat from an Unspecified Production. One of the earliest of American sex symbols, pop stars, and film icons, Rudolph Valentino's career in film is eclipsed only by the tales of the hysteria caused by his untimely death at age 31. This peach-colored 18th century-style velvet coat was worn by Valentino in an unspecified production. The coat has beige soutache trim along the large collar and cuffs, and rhinestone buttons at the faux front closures and cuffs. A United Costumers label reading "R. Valentino EO-3" is sewn into the lining. Previously offered by Butterfield's in 2001, this fantastic piece is in Very Fine condition with some small areas of wear and faint soiling, and it is accompanied by photocopied pages of the catalog from the December 10, 1926 estate sale that liquidated Valentino's possessions after his death.
