Pacific Rim (Warner Bros., 2013), Charlie Hunnam "Raleigh Becket" Screen Used Black Jaeger Drivesuit.
Description
"There are things you can't fight, acts of God. You see a hurricane coming, you have to get out of the way. But when you're in a Jaeger, suddenly, you can fight the hurricane. You can win." - Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam), Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim (Warner Bros., 2013), Charlie Hunnam
"Raleigh Becket" Screen Used Black Jaeger Drivesuit. Charlie
Hunnam's screen-worn Jaeger Drivesuit from Guillermo del Toro's
fan-favorite giant robot vs. giant monster sci-fi epic, Pacific
Rim. Worn by Hunnam in his role as pilot Raleigh Becket, this
suit represents a key upgrade from his earlier white metallic
version to a sleeker, more tactical model that visually aligns with
his new co-pilot, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). Measuring 71" x 25" x
14", the suit was custom-made using a 3D body scan, with components
precisely fabricated to fit Hunnam's form. Designed for comfort,
full range of movement, and water scenes, these suits were
essential to the illusion of man and machine operating in sync.
Each costume reflects the personality and sensibility of its
character, guided by the director's exacting creative vision. The
Drivesuit's neural link spine detail and boots were even engineered
to physically connect into the full-scale Jaeger set pieces.
Constructed over an elastane-blend bodysuit, this ensemble includes
a plastic and acrylic helmet (approx. 9" x 9" x 10"), and layered
urethane and metal armor elements. Components include collar,
epaulets, chest plate, bracers, knuckle plates, hip bolts, quad
plates, codpiece, and knee pads-all finished in metallic gray and
black. Features also include a magnetic closure, internal LED
lights, and rubber elements for the neck, codpiece, and spine, with
a concealed rear zipper. Gloves are black spandex with printed
circuitry and knuckle lights, and boots are functional shoes
encased in urethane shells. The Pan Pacific Defense Corps (PPDC)
insignia is embossed on both shoulders. The full suit is mounted on
a custom display mannequin with a 30" x 24" base and Legacy Effects
plaque. Exhibits deliberate production distress and wear, including
separation at the back of the knee, left buttock pad, and light
detachment of rear armor components. Comes with a COA from
Heritage Auctions."When we were designing the suits for Pacific Rim, I insisted on making them dinged and damaged, like a miner or a repairman suit. The Wabi Sabi philosophy of design. I needed them to feel like pieces you would use over and over again, and that would hang in a locker room somewhere. The beauty of an object like this comes with a price, you have to pre-sculpt and pre-paint all the damage and make every screw, bolt or joint feel utilitarian and real. The easier route is to go with a gleaming prop, set, or costume. These suits are Legacy FX artistry at its very best." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
