    Description

Orson Welles Last Worn Jacket With Ma Maison Matchbook (1985). A single-breasted black jacket known to be the last jacket Welles wore before his death from a heart attack in October 1985. The jacket is lined with black art silk and labelled on the inside pocket "Acuna, Hollywood" (from the noted costumer Frank Acuna, who designed for Liberace, among others). Inside the pocket was the matchbook from a restaurant where Welles often went to, Ma Maison. Ma Maison was a very exclusive restaurant, and a frequent spot for many celebrities. Wolfgang Puck got his start there. It was also the place that declined in popularity after a sous chef on staff murdered his girlfriend, Dominique Dunne, best known for her role in Poltergeist. Jacket comes from the estate of Prince Alessandro Tasca di Cutò, who had a decades-long personal and professional relationship with Welles. He was with Welles on the last evening of his life at Ma Maison. He was named as co-executor of Welles' will. Jacket is in Very Good condition, as is the matchbook. Jacket measures 21" from armpit to armpit, and 33" from top to bottom. COA from Heritage Auctions.
