Description
Nothing in Common (Tri-Star, 1986), Jackie Gleason "Max Basner" Robe and Pajamas. Original (3) piece pajama ensemble from Jackie Gleason's final film appearance, consisting of (1) blue, green, red, and yellow plaid cotton Brooks Brothers pajama robe, with large hip pockets and waist tie, (1) baby blue polyester/cotton blend pajama top with 3- front button closure and royal blue piping, and (1) matching pair of baby blue pajama pants. Items retain original costumer's wardrobe tags labeled "Max / Jackie Gleason" with scene numbers from where the ensemble appears in the film. Nothing in Common followed the father-son relationship of Max Basner (Jackie Gleason) and David Basner (Tom Hanks), following the separation of Max from David's mother, Lorraine (Eva Marie Saint). Though a modest commercial success at the time, the film has gained recognition over the years as a turning point in Hanks's career towards more mature roles, as well as for being Gleason's final film appearance before his death in 1987. Exhibiting production wear and age including toning and fading to the pajama set and several .5" round breaches to the robe, and exhibits the distinctive flap tear in the breast-pocket as seen in the film. Lot is accompanied by an 8" x 10" black-and-white publicity photo from the film featuring Max (Gleason) in this ensemble. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
