Purple, silk velvet floor-length gown fitted through waist and hips. Gathered bodice finishes with a draped and weighted neckline, and padded shoulder. Full elbow-length flared sleeves with scalloped edge and purple bugle beads defining each scalloped "petal" to the shoulder. The floor-length full skirt is attached along the arched line rising from the hips. The scalloped "petal" hem line is beaded in the same fashion as the sleeves, rising to the hip seam. A zipper closure at the back center is finished with a hook & eye. The unlined gown is finished with a chiffon ribbon at the skirt and sleeve hem.
With the gown is a wide-brimmed, purple velvet hat with an upturned back edge and gathered crown, adorned with long swooping ostrich feathers.
Elizabeth Taylor wore this gown and hat for her role as Louella Parsons in the 1985 made-for-TV movie Malice in Wonderland. In Very Fine condition with some crushing to the velvet along the interior neck edge, and on back at neck line. There are some missing beads at hem line. From the Nolan Miller Collection.
