Description

    Nolan Miller 1870s Period Costume for Elizabeth Taylor in her Role as Alice Moffat in the 1987 Movie Poker Alice. 1987; Dress: Silk satin, cotton muslin, bobbin lace; Label: Nolan Miller; Dress Size: 4/6; Shoe Size: 8 and 8 1/2.

    This lot includes two boned fitted bodice tops and a floor-length skirt with train in pink, silk satin and two pairs of dyed to match silk 2 1/2" heel shoes. The primary bodice was worn by Elizabeth Taylor and features a wide scalloped "sweetheart" neckline. The full gathered poof sleeve is elbow length, lined in pink silk satin and shaped between the layers with netting. The neck, waist and sleeve cuff are trimmed in a heavy pink bobbin lace. Pink silk satin rosettes are placed at the shoulder, at the cuff of the sleeve and at the back center waist with a snap to secure two rosettes together over zipper. The bodice back is closed with a zipper and hook & eye. The bodice is lined in cotton muslin. At the neck line are a series of stays holding the scalloped edge of the lace in place. At the waist is a ribbon band tied in and secured with a hook & eye. The label secured on the right-side seam of the lining reads "Nolan Miller" and embroidered right of the zipper is "ET." At the lower back right is a snap to secure bodice to skirt.

    The second fitted bodice, for the stunt double, was used in a heated fight scene. It is identical to the primary bodice, except that the label reading "Nolan Miller" is sewn in at the neckline back. Also at the neckline is a strip of elastic anchored in a "catch" stitch.

    The floor-length skirt in pink silk satin has a 24" train and is lined in muslin with three snaps to secure the waist opening. At the waist are two pink silk satin overskirts, lined in pink satin. The back overskirt spans the side seams in a double inverted pleat, sloping down to floor length.
