Description
Leonard Nimoy "Spock" Spacesuit from Episode, "The Tholian Web" of Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount TV, 1966-1969) Vintage original 1-piece silver spacesuit costume constructed of silver lame with short ring collar, stirrups at pant cuffs and zipper front closure. On all but one occasion, episodes of the original Star Trek series involved the "Away Team" travelling to "Class-M" planets where the atmosphere was hospitable and the air was surprisingly breathable. Spacesuits were unnecessary under these circumstances. In the 9th episode of the 3rd season, "The Tholian Web", spacesuits were used for the first and only time and worn by "Capt. Kirk" (William Shatner), "Spock" (Leonard Nimoy), "Dr. 'Bones' McCoy" (DeForest Kelley), and "Chekov" (Walter Koenig). This is the base jumpsuit without the ornamental colorful tubing, white Velcro utility belt patches, helmet and gloves. Handwritten on the interior back collar "Nimoy" in black marker pen. A striking display piece and an incredibly rare and historic Spock costume. The DeForest Kelley "McCoy" spacesuit from this episode sold at the Christie's Star Trek auction for an astounding $144,000. Exhibiting age, production wear and some minor loosening to seams. In vintage Very Good condition. Provenance: Christie's East, December 12, 1990, lot 211. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
