Description

Golden Boy Costume Robe Given to Glenn Ford by William Holden. Worn by Luther Adler in the original stage version of Golden Boy, this costume boxer's robe was kept by playwright and screenwriter Clifford Odets, who later gave it as a gift to actor William Holden following the filming of the 1939 movie version. Holden, in turn, gave it as a birthday present decades later to Glenn Ford, along with a plaque that reads: "Happy Birthday Glenn/This is something very special to me that I would like you to have and keep. We have been through a lot together......and never once did I lose my respect for you. You are my very best friend! Always, Bill Holden/May First 1981." The Robe is in Very Fine condition with some areas of wear, and the plaque is Excellent. Also included is a color 8" x 10" photo of Ford and Holden together. From the Glenn Ford Estate. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Peter Ford.
