General Hospital and Providence Screen-Worn 18th Century-Style Grand Ball Gown and Court Footmen Suits. This lot features three 18th century-style French nobility costumes that were prominently featured in both the daytime soap General Hospital and in the prime time drama Providence. The three leads in Providence -- Seth Peterson, Mike Farrell and Melina Kanakaredes -- were featured wearing these costumes in the opening dream sequence of the November 9, 2001 episode. Peterson and Farrell were the footmen's uniforms while Kanakaredes, in the elegant gown, utters the classic line "Let them eat cake." The same costume was worn at a costume party on General Hospital in episode #10395 (October 30, 2003), and in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The gown is a gorgeous golden hazel color adorned with ornate hand-beaded designs along the bodice and corset, while the metallic iridescent sleeves are lace with ruffled faux pearl cuffs. White beads and gold trim accent the arms. The inner hoop skirt has a striped decorative pattern with gold and pearl similar to the beaded lower edges. The outer dress has a floral brocade design with decorative beaded borders and lace ruffles along lower edges. The ensemble also features an oversized white wig decorated with a beige bow, two fabric roses with beaded leaves, and a white ostrich feather. The footmen costumes have white frock coats with gold brocade, pearl-like buttons, and frilled cuffs. The vests are off-white with similar trim. White breeches and a white wig complete each. The two are differentiated with varying cravat pins. Videotapes of the Providence and General Hospital episodes featuring the costumes are included. All three costumes are in Fine condition. From the Randy McLaughlin Costume Collection. Requires third party shipping from Beverly Hills.
