Description

Galanos Fur-Trimmed Coat with Jumpsuit, and Dress with Jumper, Owned and Worn by Edie Adams. Amelia Gray was the boutique on Wilshire Boulevard that initially sold Galanos' designs and here we present four items from the early 1960s, all labeled Galanos for Amelia Gray. The first item is a calf length gray wool coat which features a wide beaver collar, a top stitched band defines the waist from which flows the skirt with two pleats at front and back and securing the front are four perforated buttons. The straight-legged jumpsuit is similar in design, also of gray wool with beaver collar, top stitched waistband and cuffs, the front is secured with hidden buttons. The third piece is a jumper with a fox fur band at the hem, knit in a tan mélange yarn with scooped neck, two hip pockets with buttoned flaps and a back zipper that opens to a taupe lining. Last is a straight gray wool dress with high scooped collar, raglan sleeves and button front snapped at top. All pieces are in Very Fine condition, displaying a new informality that marked the times, and Edie's place as a trend setter. Accompanied by a hardcover copy of Edie Adams' autobiography, Sing a Pretty Song. From the Ernie Kovacs/Edie Adams Estate Archive.
