Description

Fred Astaire Silk Stockings Screen-Worn Toupees. These two light brown toupees were worn by the Academy Award-nominated, Emmy-winning dancer extraordinaire, Fred Astaire, in the 1957 Golden Globe-nominated musical comedy Silk Stockings. Hand-tied and made from human hair, these toupees include the original Max Factor wig box and MGM production tag. The brown cardboard wig box has been studio labeled "FRED ASTAIRE, 2 HAIRPIECES FROM 'SILK STOCKINGS'" on the front. An additional label affixed to the top cover reads: "Fred Astaire, Silk Stockings". The box includes a cloth toupee block. The production tag has the text "Fred Astaire, Silk Stockings, 2 Toupees" written on it. The box has some surface wear and tear along the top side edges. Overall, the toupees, production tag, and box are in Very Good condition. From The MGM Wig Archive.
