Description
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Paramount, 1986), Matthew Broderick "Ferris Bueller" Screen Used Military Beret Won in a Tiger Beat Magazine Contest. Original size "7.5," black wool military beret with black leather sweatband, black nylon drawcord, and two 0.25" grommets on right side. Beret features a 1.5" x 2" green wool fabric patch in the shape of a shield affixed by a hand sewn whip stitch and placed on front left with an attached "Victory or Death" US Military 32nd Cavalry Regiment Unit crest pin in red and yellow enamel. Interior of beret is lined in black cotton fabric and retains internal manufacturers diamond shape printed label in faded white ink reading "Genuine / Fleur de Lis / 100% VIRGIN WOOL / EXCEPT LINING SWEAT / BAND AND DRAWCORD / Made in Canada / Dorothea Knitting Mills / LIMITED / TORONTO / CAN", covered in an approx. 6.25" x 4.5" clear plastic diamond patch, affixed with a machine made sewn straight stitch. An approx. 3.25" strip of faded black gaffers' tape has been used to cover the locking pin back of the affixed "Victory or Death" pin. This highly visible beret is screen worn by Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) when making his way from Evanston, IL into downtown Chicago with girlfriend Sloan Peterson (Mia Sara) and best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) in Cameron's father's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, the first moment we see the three of them together as carefree teenagers. While exiting French restaurant "Chez Quis", Ferris adjusts this beret and disguises himself with sunglasses to evade his father who so happens to be visiting the same restaurant. This beret was featured in a Tiger Beat Magazine contest in 1986, the same year the movie was released. The original contest winner is the consignor of this item. Included with the beret is the original packing envelope used to ship the beret from Tiger Beat. Retains return address for Tiger Beat (Parent company: Edrei Communications) offices and metered mail postage of $1.07 postmarked Jul 21 '86 from Teaneck, NJ. Envelope exhibits age, is torn (open) on one side and exhibits puncture marks. Internal plastic label has a 0.25" puncture hole on right hand side (not affecting wool). Leather sweat band exhibits age but remains well-preserved and flexible. Rear of hat has a slight 1" ridge in wool with light fading. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Auction Info
